Cilla Benkö has been Director General and CEO of Sveriges Radio since 2012, with a career spanning 40 years in journalism, media and digital transformation. She began as a radio journalist at Radiosporten and Ekot, later holding senior editorial roles at both Ekot and SVT’s Aktuellt. Between 2009 and 2012, she served as Deputy Director General of Sveriges Radio. Benkö has over two decades of international board experience and currently serves as Vice President of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). As Director General and CEO, she has led the company’s digital transformation and overseen its most extensive efficiency programme to date. She holds a journalism degree from Stockholm University and has completed executive education at NYU, IMD Lausanne and HKUST, with a focus on digitalisation and strategic leadership.
