Emma Conneely leads BBC Sounds’ Metadata and Publishing team providing support and advice about in-house publishing tools and podcast best practice. She is pursuing initiatives to improve the BBC’s media publishing processes and provide metadata enhancements that work across the full content catalogue. Emma is particularly interested in the balance between owned platforms and open RSS, as well as the ways that the BBC and other public service media can optimise their content for discovery in the world of AI and machine learning. Emma has been at the BBC for more than ten years, and her previous experience includes podcast commissioning, launch and promotion as well as being involved in discovery, curation, distribution, syndication and partner relationships.
