Matt Lomax has always loved the bit of radio most people don’t notice the moments between the songs, the sweep into a chorus, the way a piece of imaging can completely shift the mood of a station in seconds. For Matt, audio isn’t about shouting the loudest. It’s about feel. He’s constantly testing new production techniques, streamlining workflows, and finding smarter ways to build a consistent sound across stations without losing personality. At heart (no pun intended), he’s just someone who believes radio still matters. When it’s done well, it can lift your mood, soundtrack your day, and create a connection in seconds. After 12 years at Heart as Head of Sound Design, leading a team of talented sound designers, he’s helped shape the network’s sound while never losing that curiosity for what makes great audio work. Along the way, he supported the WSQK project, working with Heidi Donald to bring its sound to life and collaborating closely with Richard Boffin and the wider production team to make sure every detail landed exactly right.
