Radiodays Europe Children’s Summit: Why Young Audiences Matter
Children’s audio is no longer a niche – it’s a rapidly growing part of the global media landscape. From dedicated radio stations to interactive audio players and cross-platform storytelling, the race to capture young listeners’ attention is creating new opportunities for broadcasters, publishers and creators alike.
At Radiodays Europe 2026, the Children’s Summit on Sunday morning explores how the industry is building content for the next generation – and why the kids’ audience is becoming serious business.
In “Launching a Radio Station for Kids,” Bertrand Rutily, Head of Broadcast and Production at Radio France, shares the story behind the organisation’s brand-new children’s radio station. He’ll explain why Radio France decided to invest in kids’ audio, the types of programmes they are creating, and how they measure success when the goal is to inform, entertain and give young listeners a voice.
The summit also looks beyond radio. In “Bringing Kids’ Content from YouTube to Print,” Marieke Woortman, Publisher of Children’s Books at Kosmos, reveals how the Dutch publishing giant turned a YouTube phenomenon into a bestselling book series. It’s a fascinating look at how stories travel across platforms – and what makes content truly irresistible to young audiences.
Finally, Juliana Cabra Jaramillo, Audio Producer at Yoto, explores how a physical audio player is winning children away from screens. In “How a Physical Audio Player Blew Screens Away,” she’ll share how Yoto has become one of the fastest-growing kids’ audio platforms in the UK and US, and how thoughtful design and curated content can create a deeply engaging listening experience.
The session is hosted by Henriette Høj Gharib, CEO and co-founder of Podster, who will guide the conversation across radio, publishing and audio platforms.
For anyone interested in the future of storytelling, audience development and the long-term growth of audio, the Children’s Summit offers a clear message: today’s young listeners are tomorrow’s lifelong audiences. Understanding how to reach them has never been more important.
Can’t make the summit on Sunday? There’s an additional session in the main conference on Monday morning: “The Future of Audio for Children“ where experts Caroline Pouron, Podcast commissioner, Swedish Radio, Gregory Watson, Managing Director, Fun Kids and Eloîse Elandaloussi, Director Global Content, tonies GmbH, will share their commercial knowledge on launching children’s radio, branded content and an audio player every German child owns!
