From two days’ work to five minutes – AI in the workflow

“Something that used to take two days now takes five minutes,” explained Roger Hoffman, Head of Digital at FFH Media Group.

The philosophy behind their AI usage is simple – which workflows can help get the work done faster?

This is done by looking at where AI can do the heavy everyday tasks – like removing background audio – so your team has more time for other, more in-depth things.

The organisation utilises over 40 multi-lingual and GDPR-compliant tools, with defined language models for each AI assistant.

One particular AI workflow – one of the most used in the company – is used when one prompt is not enough. For example, the news team is required to produce on-air content and online articles. The workflow is able to generate optimised headlines, articles, and social media posts in the appropriate tone from an alternative piece of content, such as an audio package or police report. Throughout the process the editor can step in and make changes at any opportunity.

FFH Media Group’s AI use isn’t limited to workflow optimisation, it’s used across weather, transcriptions, graphics, audio production, research, data analysis, voices, and horoscopes. They are transparent with their usage – any use of AI is clearly labeled.

The use, however, has been incredibly successful. Page views for weather reports have tripled since they have become AI generated, and is ranking higher on Google.

Completely AI-generated horoscopes are one of the top 10 most viewed pages on the app each day, and have 400,000 unique page views.

Wohlfühlzeit, an AI-generated meditation podcast, was started as a trial that wasn’t really expected to work, is now one of the company’s top 5 podcasts.
