When the haters strike, content creators often face an uncontrollable storm of hate speech. Maria Amanatidou, with 25 years of experience in the radio field, opened up about her experience and empowered attendants from all around the world.

Strong audiences are built around honesty and vulnerability. When journalists stay true to themselves, people with likewise beliefs will follow. By letting haters overshadow their powers, their voice will become weaker and weaker, resulting in negative shifts in their work practices. During times of anger, hate speech is everyday speech and resilience is the only answer.

Constructive criticism is not a synonym of toxic negativity. Timelines are considered as a home for people who work on social media and nasty comments won’t be tolerated. Maria claps back with humor and politeness and she suggested her audience to do the same. Otherwise, no answer is still an answer. Keeping the balance between good and evil at the comment section creates a healthy community.

When hate comments get overwhelming, a personal ritual of hers is to schedule-uploading a number of posts for 4 weeks ahead and resets her media routine. In this way, she gets refocused and she sustains her confidence. After all, being overly exposed on social media is often mentally deteriorating and staying positive is key.
