Czech Radio Volunteers at Radiodays Europe 2023!

The Radiodays Europe 2023 conference in Prague is fast approaching and preparations are in full swing! Czech Radio, as host partner of the conference, has put together a superb team of volunteers to help out at this year’s installation of the biggest radio conference in Europe. Prospective volunteers applied to one of two possible positions: Media Bloggers and Event Assistants.

“Volunteers are a traditional and very important organizational part of this conference, no matter where it has been held in the past. Radiodays Europe and Czech Radio are giving young people and aspiring radio professionals the opportunity to peek behind the scenes of a large-scale conference and meet the greatest experts in the radio industry,” said Zuzana Matějovská, Head of the International Department.

Many talented and motivated people applied – it was a pleasure to see how many young people are interested in volunteering at this prestigious and inspiring event and gaining new journalistic and production experience. The final group of both media bloggers and event assistants is a diverse, enthusiastic and impressive collective. The soon-to-be media bloggers, who will be attending all sessions at the conference and writing posts for the Radiodays Europe website in real time, and the soon-to-be event assistants, who will be logistically helping out throughout the busy conference, include students from a wide range of universities and areas of study. And from all over the map! From Turkey to Germany, from Pilsen to Olomouc, this group is the perfect fit for an event with such international scale. While most at students of Czech universities, such as Charles University in Prague, some hold degrees from abroad – Bard College Conservatory of Music, University of Glasgow and Bayreuth University. Students of journalism, economics, television and radio studies, international relations, law and even audio-visual technology will come together to help make this year’s conference the best yet.

What’s more, a number of volunteers, especially the media bloggers, are from the ranks of Czech Radio’s own prestigious internship program. Some are even young members of the Czech Radio newsroom, specifically working for the Czech Radio online news server iRozhlas

Hopefully the volunteers will get as much from the experience as they will give. From the Radiodays Europe team and the Czech Radio team – we are so excited to have you on board, volunteers!
