Palma, Mallorca – A Place for Business, Innovation and Radio

Palma is an established international business and conference destination, with a growing technology sector, excellent transport connections and a particularly interesting story to tell about the future of radio.

For international delegates, it offers the infrastructure and facilities expected of a major European conference destination, alongside an environment that encourages networking, collaboration and new ideas.

Palma has been developing its reputation as a destination for international meetings, conferences and professional events for decades. At the heart of its conference offering is the Palau de Congressos, a purpose-built venue overlooking the Mediterranean – and the home of Radiodays Europe 2027.

Palma de Mallorca Airport welcomed 33.8 million passengers in 2025, with extensive connections across Europe and beyond. Just a short journey from the city centre, it makes Palma particularly accessible for international delegates.

Beyond its conference infrastructure, Mallorca is also investing in its wider business economy. ParcBit, the Balearic Islands’ principal technology park, is home to an ecosystem of businesses and organisations working in technology, innovation and digital services.

In January 2026, the Balearic Government announced plans to mobilise approximately €68 million by 2030 to further develop ParcBit and strengthen the region’s position as a centre for innovation – another example of how Mallorca’s economy extends well beyond its traditional tourism industry.

There’s good news for the radio industry too, with the Balearic Islands playing an interesting role in Spain’s development of digital radio.

The region’s digital radio journey gained momentum in February 2024, when Mallorca Radio Group became the first local broadcasting group in the Balearic Islands to introduce DAB+ transmissions. The initiative brought four digital radio services to the island, including Das Inselradio Mallorca and Mallorca Sunshine Radio, marking an important step in the development of digital broadcasting in the region.

This was followed by the introduction of DAB+ services by Spain’s national public broadcaster RTVE in Mallorca in 2024.

In March 2026, regional public broadcaster IB3 Ràdio completed its DAB+ rollout across the Balearic Islands, becoming the first regional public broadcaster in Spain to offer DAB+ transmissions throughout its territory.

IB3 has also introduced IB3 Música, a digital music service designed to showcase the islands’ musical talent and provide new opportunities for local artists.

Mallorca’s radio landscape also reflects the island’s international character. Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, Das Inselradio Mallorca has been connecting German-speaking residents and visitors with the island since 1996. Together with English-language Mallorca Sunshine Radio, it illustrates how local commercial broadcasters can serve international audiences through FM, DAB+ and digital streaming.

Together with a diverse landscape of regional, national, commercial and local broadcasters, these developments make Mallorca a particularly relevant setting for an industry discussing the future of broadcast radio, digital distribution, connected services and listener engagement.

In March, we’ll be bringing the European radio industry together in Palma to discuss, explore and answer some of the important questions facing radio.

How do we ensure radio remains easy to find and use in connected vehicles? How can broadcast and IP technologies work together to provide the best possible listener experience? And how can broadcasters, manufacturers and technology providers collaborate to address the challenges ahead?

These are conversations that benefit from bringing people together – to share knowledge, understand developments in different markets, build relationships and exchange ideas.

And Palma provides an excellent environment in which to do it.

It combines professional conference facilities and international connectivity with excellent accommodation, a thriving business and technology community and, of course, a beautiful Balearic setting.

We think that’s something to embrace. After all, productive conference days, valuable conversations and the opportunity to continue those conversations overlooking the Mediterranean aren’t mutually exclusive.

With Mallorca Radio Group as a local host partner, Radiodays Europe 2027 will also benefit from the experience and local connections of broadcasters who have been part of the island’s international community for three decades.

Palma is a place where international business, technology and broadcasting come together – and we’re looking forward to welcoming the radio industry there in March.
