When it comes to podcasting, you have to do the right thing, not every thing

During “Podcast Summit II: Why Have All the Best Podcasters Become Video Producers?”, the Podcast Panel discussed how there is a fine line between incorporating video in podcasts organically and choosing the video format for the sake of trends.

In this day and age, when three out of five people prefer video to audio, it seems appealing to podcasters to include video in their podcasts or switch to it solely, in order to expand their reach to different audiences. Although it may appear to be a solid technique, it should be utilized in relation to the channel’s purpose and overall tone.

Another point worth taking into account is the algorithm. Since YouTube is algorithm-driven itself, and it serves certain criteria, according to SEO tips and tricks, podcast producers should choose wisely when it comes to the title and description, the chapters and the thumbnail. Especially the last of the three is a focal trait, because it must be engaging, eye-catching and easy to read. Therefore, these aspects for moving along the lines of the algorithm, should align with the channel’s goals as well.

The video format per se, is important to have a specific targeting; it should focus on either informing the viewer, encouraging engagement, or being emotion-provoking.

Whether a podcaster chooses to go for either audio or video, they should consider the fact that they are comprised of different audiences and thus, they ought to have their goals set straight.
