Podcast marketing for creators

When you’re on the creative side of podcasting and radio production, it’s hard to also focus on the marketing and audience development of your show or series. In this session, I’ll share some concepts, ideas, and actionable steps you can take to get your latest show or project off the ground and into more ears. You’ll learn about the role of social media in podcast marketing, how to set up and maintain collaborations with other podcasts, how video can be a catalyst for discovery, and more.

Podcasts’ State of Mind

This session takes a look on the current state of podcasts. It will give a brief overview of obstacles the medium is facing right now, possible solutions and hopefully will light the fire of brave ideas anew. The talk will also take a look at the responsibilities, we as the founding generation of this medium, have.

Speakers: Arielle Nissenblat, Descript, USA, Maria Lorenz, Pool Artists, DE, Matthieu Rawolloe

14.00-15.00 : 3 Case studies with tips and tricks to help you up your podcast game

Meera Kumar, Independent Podcast Producer: “In my new podcast, I’m going to be talking to my friends about everything and anything. In this podcast, Celebrity invites other celebrities on for a chat to talk about reality tv and pop culture and everything in between. In this show, you’ll hear the kind of conversations you only ever hear behind the scenes. Nothing is off limits!” Those are some of the taglines of existing and expired podcasts, but really there are hundreds and hundreds of shows they could be applied to. There’s a sameness in podcasting that threatens the medium’s existence and the quality of output. Audiences just aren’t sticking with shows and they end up on the scrap heap. So what do we do? Better development. In this session, we’ll go through some show development tips, learn from interesting formats across different mediums, and talk about the steps that you can take to plan for a long-lasting series before you even hit record.

Speakers: Meera Kumar, Norma Jean Belenky, Podbean & James Cridland
