10:00-11:00 : Registration
11:00-12:00 : Innovation unleashed: How to harness the power of diversity
Many companies aim to build diverse teams but then struggle to make the most of that diversity, especially when it comes to delivering products and experiences that resonate with the customer or audience. Join Morna McAulay to learn practical strategies to turn a mix of perspectives into a powerhouse for creativity and customer-centred design. In this talk, Morna taps into 25 years of experience in leading transformation and data functions in big Tech and Global companies. Sharing what she’s learnt, what she wished she’d known from the start, and how to pivot diversity in your team into a game-changer.
12:00-12:05 : Break
12:05-13:05 : From Inspiration Porn to Authentic Representation: Changing the Narrative
Disabled people are often overrepresented in pop culture when it comes to horror movies and tragic narratives. These clichés influence how we talk about disability more than we’d like to admit (or maybe even realise). Educator and journalist Sofia Tawast breaks down the basics of disability representation, introduces the concept of “inspiration porn,” and shares all the awkward things she never wants to say to disabled people (ever) again. In this practical workshop we’ll explore how creators and newsrooms can be more thoughtful and inclusive around disability and you will end up with a greater understanding to take back to your workplace.
13:05-14:00 : Lunch
Reaching your audience in an authentic way takes courage, consistency, and commitment—and when you’ve invested that much effort, hateful comments can sting. As a morning show presenter for 25 years and the host of a successful podcast about inspirational women, Maria Amanatidou understands what it takes to build a loyal audience, stay true to yourself, and kick those cruel comments to the curb. Maria shares insights on how to cultivate a devoted following, create your personal brand, and handle online trolls effectively. Expect to leave with inspiration on how to enhance your working practices and manage negativity in a safe and constructive manner.
Is your talent pool stuck on repeat? Are you hiring from the same sources and expecting different results? Now is the time to break the cycle and uncover new ways to find the talent your team truly needs. In this dynamic and hands-on experience, Jazz Singh, renowned change-maker and founder of EmpowerAbility, will challenge you to think beyond typical hiring approaches and reveal the game-changing power of transferable skills. Whether it’s finding resilience, adaptability or leadership abilities, transferable skills are what set people apart. They often come from untapped backgrounds and hidden talent pools. Jazz will show you how to spot these invaluable skills, not only within your own team and network but within yourself as well. This session promises high energy, real-world applications and the chance to leave with a fresh perspective on recruiting and building diverse, highly capable teams.
