The award for Best Coronavirus Reporting will also be judged by a small panel of industry experts and both of these special awards will be announced separately at the Radiodays Europe “Christmas Lunch” on Monday, December 14, 2020.

The decision to announce the winners of the other awards early was due in part to the in-person Radiodays Europe event moving to May 2-4, 2021, making it impossible to hold the awards ceremony so long after the voting. It was felt that the winners should be announced in this, the year of COVID-19 to recognize their exceptional work in a timely manner.

Anders Held, Co-Founder, Radiodays Europe, said: “While sadly we have had to move the in-person Radiodays Europe event to next year, we really wanted to go ahead with the Awards as they are such an important showcase of radio and audio innovation. Therefore we look forward to welcoming you on November 12th to the online announcement.”

Andreas Sannemann, Chief Executive Officer, Benztown, remarked: “Voting in the awards was so close and the nominations for the awards were the best of what was posted on the Facebook page. The competition was tough in all categories and we thank all those who were nominated. It’s a thrill to recognize not only the winners, but also all the nominees who represent the unbelievable talent in the radio and audio industries. Now more than ever, people need radio stations and podcasts that effectively connect with and inform listeners.”

Ken Benson, Partner, P1 Media Group, noted: “This awards process has been a labor of love for all involved. When we first set up the Facebook page, we didn’t imagine that it would touch the lives of so many industry professionals. The breadth and depth of the content posted and the diversity and number of the nominees and the eventual winners are something we are very proud of. We look forward to announcing the winners, as there will be some surprises so watch the Coronavirus Radio Ideas Facebook page. We would also like to thank all the radio professionals who took the time to vote!”
