RDE Lisbon 2021 – In person and Online – What next?

RDE Oct 21

Radiodays Europe 9-11 October 2021

Due to the pandemic Radiodays Europe, as with all other big events, was postponed and will now take place in Lisbon 9-11 October 2021.

RDE 2021 will be a live in person event at Lisbon Congress Center, as it was originally announced for March 2020, but it will also be available virtually, on-line. You can choose to travel and attend in person or if you want to attend the event virtually.

Tired of Zoom? Welcome to Portugal!

Though local safety measures are still in place, Portugal is step by step opening up from pandemic restrictions and is now welcoming non-essential travellers from the EU, the Schengen area (Norway, Switzerland etc), UK, USA and some other countries. With the vaccine roll-out well on its way across Europe the general pandemic situation is expected to improve substantially over the coming months.

Travelling will also be made easier with the introduction of the electronic EU Covid-19 Vaccine Passport this summer, which will show if you are fully vaccinated or if you have a recent negative test, if that should be required at the time of your travel.

If you are in Europe, it is  a good idea to start making plans to attend in person, please sure you book air-tickets and hotels that are refundable, should anything change in regard to your possibility to come to Lisbon. If you are outside of the EU/EES you need to keep track on what the requirements are for entering Portugal at the time of travel, but also if there are quarantine requirements put in place by your own resident country on return, or if company travel policies restrict your travel.

We will update you

Radiodays Europe will give you guidance with an update on the situation in Portugal in general and travel in particular over the coming months leading up to the event 9-11 October. On the website and in the newsletter, starting in July, 3 months prior to the event, and then followed by frequent updates.

What will it be like at the venue?

We know many radio lovers are eager to meet in-person again. So will the event be different now compared to prior to the pandemic?

Radiodays Europe will run sessions in 4 parallel tracks as usual and there will be a professional exhibition area and coffee and lunch catering for attendees at the venue. We follow the requirements of the Portuguese Health Authorities. The Lisbon Congress Center is currently planning to operate at 50% of normal room capacity, which will be alright since Radiodays is renting very large session rooms and lounge and exhibition areas. The venue will be more spacious than normal to avoid any crowds. There will also be other safety measures in place to make it a pleasant and safe experience – avoiding ques, spread out seating up to 50% capacity in each room, wide corridors in general areas and in the exhibition, waiters serving lunch instead of self-serving buffets, mask wearing by staff, frequent cleaning etc.

Please note that Radiodays Europe this year will be held on Saturday-Monday – opening on Saturday at noon with Sunday and Monday being the main conference days.

A Hybrid Event

Finally, if you do not wish to attend in–person in beautiful Lisbon, you can still attend virtually since we will offer the conference also as an online experience. Make sure if you haven’t done so already that you book your ticket, registration opens shortly.
