    Lisbon: Maximise Time, Minimise Spend

Lisbon is full of historic monuments and museums full of important Portuguese and world history.  One of the best ways to see these sites, is to purchase a Lisboa Card. This card is a way to feel the city of Lisbon. For 24 hours and 20 Euros* – it offers free travel on public transport, entry to 25 museums and monuments for free, as well as over 70 discount opportunities. We aren’t sponsored – we just think it’s a great way to see the city!

Here’s a few things you could see with your Lisboa Card (or without!)

ARCO DA RUA AUGUSTA / Rua Augusta Arch
See the symbol of Lisbon’s triumph. This monument offers a magnificent view of the city in addition to insight into the city’s rich history.

MONUMENTO A LOS DESCUBRIMIENTOS / Discoveries Monument

TORRE DE BELEM / Belem Tower
Another UNESCO World Heritage building, this is a masterpiece of military architecture dating back to the 16th century.

MUSEO CULTURAL DE BELEM / Belem Cultural Centre
This is one of the biggest cultural centres in Europe, and worth a visit.

MUSEO DEL FADO / Fado Museum
Learn more about this famous Portuguese style of music – where it came from and the influence it has had on Portuguese culture.

MUSEO NACIONAL DEL AZULEJO / National Tile Museum
This museum paints a picture of azulejo history in Lisbon over the past five centuries and is housed in a 16th century convent.

TOUR THE STADION JOSE ALVALADE OF SPORTING CP

    Or… TOUR THE LUZ STADIUM
If you would prefer to see the home of Benfica, you can also tour this stadium and see where the magic happens.

There are hundreds of places you can go to learn more about Portuguese history and you don’t need a Lisboa Card for entry. We simply recommend it as a cost-effective way of seeing a few fantastic sites while you are in Lisbon.
