The European Broadcasting Union have created a new video podcast that looks at the lessons learnt by some of Europe’s public service broadcasters during the coronavirus pandemic – aptly named ‘EBU Lessons from Lockdown.’
This episode looks at how public service media adapted to broadcasting sport content when there are were no live sports due to COVID-19. What lessons have we learned, and how can we plan for a return to live sport? The new Director of Eurovision Sport Glen Killane is joined by Barbara Slater (BBC), Panu Pokkinen (Yle), and Dàvid Székely (MTVA) to discuss the challenges and opportunties presented by the current crisis.
Together they discuss innovative programming ideas, how they have have made full use of the rich sport archive and the challenges of broadcasting sport with strict social distancing measures still in place.
