John is the Director of Research and Audiences at RAJAR, the official body in charge of measuring radio audiences in the UK, which is jointly owned by the BBC and the Radiocentre on behalf of the commercial sector. He is responsible for overseeing the RAJAR development agenda covering near term core research challenges and those of a of a more strategic nature. John has worked exclusively in media audience measurement throughout his career and has gathered international experience on the way. In addition, he is a guest lecturer at the University of Liverpool Management School and a past Chair of the UK Media Research Group.
Producer Pekka Ruohoranta has worked as a director and a script developer both on radio and tv drama. He has also taught writers, drataturgs, directors and producers at different universities.
Since 2010 Pekka Ruohoranta has worked as a producer on all platforms. Lately he has focused on series based on true events and persons. TV-series Invisible Heroes, for example, tells the true story of Finnish diplomats saving thousands of people to escape to Europe during the coup in Chile 1973. The series won the Prix Europa prize. On radio Pekka Ruohoranta has also produced musical podcast dramas based on popular Finnish artists and bands. And lately series based on central politicians during the very recent Finnish political history.
Pekka Ruohoranta is an ‘oldtimer’ who seeks for new – like it is said in Star Trek series: “Podcast Series: the final frontier. To boldly go where no one has gone before!”
