Biography: Emma Conneely leads BBC Sounds’ Metadata team providing support and advice about in-house publishing tools and podcast best practice. As part of a broader Content Discovery team, she is driving initiatives to improve the BBC’s podcast processes and offers expert support to commissioners and producers. Emma is particularly interested in the balance between owned platforms and open RSS, the ways that the BBC can optimise its presence in the podcast market, as well as the role of public service broadcasters in supporting the wider podcast industry. Emma has been at the BBC for more than ten years, and her previous experience includes podcast commissioning, launch and promotion as well as being involved in discovery, distribution, syndication and partner relationships.
