RDE Archive 2018: Doing Sport Differently

This week’s Radiodays Europe archive video takes you back to Vienna in 2018 to a session all about sports, as Lynsey Hooper and Cheeka Eyers explore the world of podcast in their respective sporting fields. 

Lynsey Hooper has been a Sport Broadcaster in TV and Radio for  over 12 years for networks including BBC, ITV, Sky Sports, Eurosport, BT Sport, TalkSPORT and IMG. Predominantly working as a football reporter, which has involved covering two World Cups and seven Premier League seasons, Lynsey has also reported from the London 2012 & Rio 2016 Olympics and presented a World Sailing Tour in 2012. She co-founded the only all female fronted football podcast The Offside Rule (We Get It!) in 2012 and it has since amassed over half a million listens and has won industry recognition – in 2017 it was in The Guardian’s Top 5 Sports Podcasts . A new series The Offside Rule Exclusives has launched for 2017/18 season with football guests including England goalkeeper Joe Hart and former England manager Sven Goran-Eriksson.

Cheeka Eyers co-presents a Formula 1 podcast ‘For F1’s Sake’; a humorous, cynical review of each race in the F1 calendar. She also launched and produces a range of podcasts including, Financial Times: Everything Else and Europe’s largest centre for the arts, Southbank Centre podcasts, along with that, she works on regular edits such as The Week Unwrapped for Rethink Audio and won Radio Today’s ‘Best Online Producer’ award for her work on young people’s podcast, Podium.me. She has also worked in a wide range of live radio shows and stations including BBC Radio 1, Radio 4 and 6 Music.
